Norton 360 makes my computer slow

It's not hard to use and can save your sanity when not if things go wrong! I find it very useful that having saved an image of my hard drive I can in fact dig down into that image and find a file or folder and look at it or recover it on its own. You may be using the cloud, as others call it, but you will find it very slow to save or to recover the backup you have made that way.

Before you change anything make a backup image of your system onto an external storage drive so that you can recover to where you were when the system won't start up anymore More good advice from huwyngr.

As you work your way through the some of the suggestions posted in this thread you might want to post a screenshot of the Startup tab of your Task Manager so we know what Startup programs are actually disabled.

Post back if you need more help posting images in the forum. Following your advice, I did download this application and would love to use it asap , but I do have some questions regarding the HOW to Do! Hi lmacri,. This is what I found in the Task manager , Not realy many and all disabled!

I think I would start a new thread with Macrium Reflect in the title -- that way some others may be helpful. Before you do that do install it from your download -- it won't do more than look at your system and draw you a picture of how your drive s look.

Then look on the top toolbar, at the right, click on Help which will drop a list of items and the first Help there will take you to the Macrium website where they have a very complete and easy to follow "book" of help topics. So look at a few of those.

Apart from that and telling it to go ahead there's not much else you need to know IF you have an external USB hard drive to save to. I let it use its defaults although I make sure I understand where it says it is saving to I make a folder on that drive and name it eg: Macrium Images Other than this I find more, if I use ccleaner, where different Programs can be liste also What is the make and model of your computer, when did you purchase it, and did it ship from the factory with a bit Win 10 Pro OS?

As far as I know CCleaner's Tools Startup feature only displays information about "legitimate" third-party software installed on your hard drive so I doubt it would show any suspicious or malicious processes running in the background if your computer is infected with malware.

I occasionally use CCleaner Free to run a custom clean of my temporary files and folders and perform few other simple tasks, but I've tried to report bugs in some of those CCleaner tools without much success see my Jan bug report CCleaner v5.

That said, I noticed that your CCleaner Tools Startup Windows Services tab for your third-party software is quite short and doesn't list many services related to your hardware components I was expecting to see a few more more Intel programs and other hardware-related software running in the background on your computer, especially if you automatically connect to the internet when you boot up your computer. Norton Guru SoulAsylum has far more expertise in this area than I do so hopefully they will jump back into this thread and provide some insight.

This information really isn't of any use to you because we have completely different hardware configurations, antivirus programs, and third-party software. Back to top. Rab60 Super Spyware Scolder 8. Yes, I had McAfee, and it was through Comcast, we get it for free through them. But then Comcast switched to the Norton, so we had to install that, and here's what it did When you go to install the Norton the first thing it'd do is uninstall the previous antivirus I even checked my programs to make sure McAfee wasn't there.

Similar conflicts may happen if some of the Mcafee components are still present in the computer. Let us know how you removed the Mcafee program. If you have not used their removal tool, I would suggest you to run the removal tool mentioned in the Mcafee Web site.

Run the Norton removal tool first, then run this Mcafee removal tool from the Mcafee Web site multiple times and reinstall Norton program. Check whether the issue persists and let us know the results.

After running the 2 removal tools as was suggested, please get a fresh download of the program from Comcast also to make sure that your original download wasn't corrupt and then run several live updates to get the latest updates. There might have been left overs inside where you can't see them without special programs. Thanks guys, I will do that. As for the download from Comcast they don't send it to me, you have to go to the site and download it from there, so it'd be the same download, but I did do two runs of live update already too.

I'll do the two removal tools and reinstall the Norton, do all the steps again, and we'll see what happens. Thanks again.

Yes, I know that Comcast doesn't send you the download. I know you have to go to the Comcast site to get a new download.
