I performed a Selective Startup from System Config, enabling services and restarting to see when the black screen occurs. So far I found that enabling all services up to one called Server makes the laptop start normally. When I enable Server service as well, Windows opens to desktop, but desktop is greyed out and has no icons. I have tried to enable all services except for Server, but black screen still occurs.

So another service is also causing problems. After many restarts and services enabled and disabled, I believe I have found the problem service:.

With this service disabled, my laptop logs in normally. With it enabled, I have a black screen for 2. I will report this as a bug, when this problem appeared I also noticed my CPU was going crazy and the laptop was overheating. I took out the battery, ran the laptop without it, still the same. I tried a Win Repair, it said it couldn't find a problem.

On two occasions, when I restarted, it performed normally again. Thank you to all that could post an opinion. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread.
