I performed a Selective Startup from System Config, enabling services and restarting to see when the black screen occurs. So far I found that enabling all services up to one called Server makes the laptop start normally. When I enable Server service as well, Windows opens to desktop, but desktop is greyed out and has no icons. I have tried to enable all services except for Server, but black screen still occurs.
So another service is also causing problems. After many restarts and services enabled and disabled, I believe I have found the problem service:.
With this service disabled, my laptop logs in normally. With it enabled, I have a black screen for 2. I will report this as a bug, when this problem appeared I also noticed my CPU was going crazy and the laptop was overheating. I took out the battery, ran the laptop without it, still the same.
