I don't know what kind of tubes those Ruby's are but did you know Ruby rebrands Shuguang tubes? But you paid 2x as much. I also have those same tubes in the Suhr PTSE in all 6 preamp position and that thing freakin' screams. I bought all the those tubes about 3yrs ago sure it was a little bit more than you recently spent but to my ears the Rubys sound much better than the 12AX7Bs that Splawn put in the amp when they shipped it.

There's a place in the tonality that for some reason triggers sensations of deliciousness that I would associate with something edible and it makes me want to play it all the time just for the sensation. As long as I don't have to take the amp to a tech to get it biased, I don't think replacing the tubes is that big of a deal, so yeah, I'll mess around with it and see if I can get the amp a bit closer to the sound I'm looking for.

Four slots "V1" through "V4". V1 is closest to the input jack. V1 is actually the second stage of the clean channel replace that one to change the tone of just the clean channel ; V2 is the first input stage for both the clean and crunch channels, and swapping out V2 will have the biggest initial impact on tone.

V3 controls the next gain stages of the crunch channel noticeable change, but just for that channel , and V4 is the phase inverter for the power tubes not as noticeable a change. I've swapped in JJ's into V2 and V3 to warm up my amp and it really helped keeping the stock Small Block which is already a warm speaker. I prefer a brighter tube for the first input stage V2 for more clarity, but mix and matching for different tone is easy.

You can easily do it yourself. Just twist the spring-loaded aluminum tube covers off, gently pull out the old tube, and replace with a new tube while lining up the pins in the socket. Easy peasy no biasing necessary for preamp tubes. If you choose to replace power tubes, you will need to rebias the amp. But even keeping the stock power tubes and bumping up the bias will warm up the tone and make it a little thicker I bumped mine to about 24ma per tube.
