After that I did 2 things: 1. Installed some PTP software. TIA Graham. Thursday, August 19, PM. TP Don't get sand in that netbook! Tuesday, August 31, PM. I guess this implies that the problem is something to do with permissions.
Anybody got any idea what permissions a TS user needs? I'm using Folder Redirection - could it be related to that? Monday, August 23, PM. Hi, As a test I would suggest you disable folder redirection, and then see if you can successfully logon with a standard user account.
Have been using FR on our existing system with no trouble - has anything changed? Did I see somewhere that the user actually needs to be "Owner" of the folder currently has Full Control?
Sorry, I rechecked that , and the user is the Owner. Hi, Please download Process Monitor, run it as an admin, then logon with one of the test user accounts. This is a procmon filtered by the user I'm testing - Kballantyne. There's quite a lot of "access denied", but I'm not sure what's relevant. TP - thanks for help on this. It's only READ access that's being requested.

Have tried a new user - no luck. Thursday, August 26, AM. I'm still not sure what's going on here. Saturday, August 28, AM. Hi Graham, Please tell me the history of this server. On that Windows 8 machine I had third-party software installed that bypassed the Metro UI and went right to the desktop. As it turns out, this software left a bit of info in my registry prohibiting me from signing in unless the account was an admin. If you can somehow get logged in in safe mode or under an administrator account, check out the registry. Look at the UserInit key. Make sure it doesn't have anything extra in it.
