The required standards are described in the Academic Catalog, and may be demonstrated by completing specified levels of study in another approved program. Students with advanced training preferably at the graduate school or conservatory level , may be exempted from all or part of these requirements. The work of a rabbi, hazzan, or rabbinic pastor places many challenges and stresses before us that are amplified by the nature of our position as clergy, counselors, teachers and spiritual mentors. Success in this work requires sensitivity and exceptional self-awareness, good emotional boundaries, and the ability to work with many different kinds of people.

Cantorial students have the opportunity to share classes with students in the Rabbinical Program and in our graduate Jewish Education Program. In addition, Hebrew College is a member of the Boston Theological Institute BTI , an association of 10 university divinity schools, schools of theology and seminaries in the Greater Boston.
