Press Next and you will see a summary of the options you have chosen. Assuming everything looks good, press New and the new dynamic distribution group will be created. When you create a distribution group not a dynamic distribution group one of the first things you'll probably want to do is add recipients to the group.
To do so, navigate to Recipient Configuration Distribution Group. Right-click on the distribution group you want to modify and select Properties. Add the desired members to the distribution group and press OK. Large companies often have hundreds, or even thousands, of Exchange mailboxes. Sometimes it's necessary to perform a maintenance task on a subset of the mailboxes. You no longer have to hunt through all of those mailboxes looking for a few specific mailboxes.
Instead, you can create filtered views of the mailboxes so only the mailboxes you need are displayed. Creating a filtered view of your mailboxes is easy: navigate to Recipient Configuration Mailbox. The console's details pane should then display a comprehensive list of all of the mailboxes in the entire Exchange organization.
To create a filtered view of those mailboxes, press Create Filter. You will then see a series of drop-down lists at the top of the screen. The first drop-down list allows you to select the Active Directory attribute of your choice. For example, if you wanted to filter the list of mailboxes by city, then you would choose the City attribute. The next drop-down list allows you to select a conditional. This is where you would select an option such as equal to , not equal to , contains , or does not contain.
Finally, you would enter your criteria. For example, if you wanted to see only mailboxes of recipients residing in the city of Miami, you would choose City from the attribute list, set the conditional to Equals, and then enter Miami into the criteria field, as shown in Figure C. Now, press Apply to see the filtered view. When you're done, press Remove Filter to switch back to a normal view of the mailboxes. The last thing I want to show you is how to create stores and storage groups in Exchange As you may recall, Exchange Server Enterprise Edition allowed you to create up to four storage groups, each of which could contain up to five stores, for a total of up to 20 stores per server.

After installing these two components, insert your Exchange Server CD, and you will see the splash screen shown in Figure A. As you can see, the first two steps of the installation process have already been completed.
The next step in preparing your server is to install the Microsoft Windows PowerShell component. When you do, you will be taken to a Web site where you can download the Microsoft Windows PowerShell. Assuming that your server is running a default Windows installation, the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration will be enabled, which may prevent you from being able to download this component. If that is the case, you can go to another computer to download the Microsoft Windows PowerShell.
Now that you have installed the necessary dependencies, it's time to install Exchange Setup will take a couple of minutes to initialize, but eventually Windows will launch the Setup wizard.
Select Next to bypass the wizard's Welcome screen and you will see a screen displaying the End User License Agreement. Accept the license agreement and select Next. At this point, you will see a screen asking you if you would like to enable error reporting. The basic idea behind error reporting is that if the server experiences an error and error reporting is enabled , then the server will silently transmit information about the error to Microsoft, using an encrypted HTTPS connection.
Error reporting has good and bad points. The downside to error reporting is that the error reports can sometimes be rather large. Depending on the amount of Internet bandwidth available to you, your users may experience slow Web browsing while the error report is being transmitted. In organizations with plenty of bandwidth, the effects of transmitting these reports will likely be negligible. I have noticed an impact on my own organization while transmitting reports, but my ISP only provides me with a very small amount of bandwidth.
The advantage to enabling error reporting is that when Microsoft receives the error report, their server runs an automated check to see if a solution to the problem is available. If there is a known solution, Microsoft will send a link to a Web page containing the solution.
My personal thoughts on error reporting are that the benefits of error reporting outweigh the impact in most cases. This is especially true for organizations with well-maintained servers that rarely experience errors. To show or hide the notification viewer, click the icon.
Notifications are alerts that are sent to the arbitration mailbox named FederatedEmail. The EAC checks this mailbox for alerts every 30 seconds. Notifications remain in the arbitration mailbox until they are removed by the component that sent them, or until they expire they should be removed by the Managed Folder Assistant after 30 days.
