By reading the thread linked below, I could figure out that is a setting optimized for higher-end PCs, but I still don't know what it is or how it works.

Posted 27 January - I can't tell you exactly how it works but I can tell you it makes images crisper. I recall it had something to do with sampling pixels in a given area and adjusting the surrounding ones to make lines appear clearer.
