Maybe you need to ask again. The web site clearly states, in more than one place, that the POI's are updated also. This is for the Maestro line; other models may be different. I specifically asked the question and was put on hold while the representative checked the answer.
After I updated the map and firmware that came with the map update as well I haven't noticed any change in number and quality as well of the factory installed POI's. My unit really came with only 1. I have updated both the maps and AAA info and cannot notice any difference. Unless you have a specific outdated or new entry, tracing these is impossible. With POIs even seemingly insignificant corporate identities like my small company or a local tile showroom are listed.
So far it has been worth the investment to me. When you enter that code, you get a code to unlock the maps on your disk. Well my code wasn't recognised! I made many attempts to contact Magellan ''customer support'', that's a laugh because it doesn't exsist!

But does that affect the GPS if only the detailed map gets updated and not the base map. I was soooo wrong. Hi All My update seemed to go in perfectly.
